ARCADIA, Heaven's Eyes

This is a rare collection of remixed songs by Arcadia (Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes & Roger Taylor). Released in 2005 to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the release of their excellent album, "So Red The Rose". The print says promotional copy and not for sale. However, there are several copies being sold or auctioned at eBay.

9 1/2 Weeks, Movie Soundtrack

This movie somehow tickles the erotic fantasies that lies within... in 1980's fashion. While Kim Basinger sizzled here, the film fizzled in the box-office. Still, the uncut version released on video was considered a gem by many fans of the movie. So if you haven't seen it, you might just wanna include it in your list of movies to rent on your next trip to your favorite video shop. The soundtrack features the popular artists of that era, and is still a joy to listen to up to now. The theme song, actually, fared better than the movie in terms of chart success. The single reached # 23 in the Billboard Hot 100 and #42 in the UK Singles Charts.

THE POWER STATION

The Power Station is a superband in the 1980's composed of Robert Palmer on lead vocals, Andy Taylor (Duran Duran) on lead guitars, John Taylor (Duran Duran) on bass, and Tony Thompson (Chic) on drums. The band was formed in New York in late 1984 and was named after The Power Station Recording Studio where their debut album was conceived and recorded.
Originally, the plan was to have a different singer performing on each track. However, when Robert Palmer was invited to record "Communication", he asked to try out also for the vocals on "Get It On". Before long, the group decided to record the whole album with Palmer. Interestingly, Roger Taylor (Duran Duran, Arcadia) provided percussions in some tracks. [Source: Wikipedia]

POWER STATION CD [1985]
Their eponymous album released in 1985, included the hits "Some Like It Hot", and the cover of T. Rex's "Get It On (Bang a Gong)". Featured here is the full length album plus the Remix versions of Some Like It Hot, Get It On, and Communication, plus the track "Someday, Somehow, Someone's Gonna Pay" (A.K.A. "We Fight for Love" from the movie "Commando") which featured singer/actor Michael Des Barres on lead vocals. Des Barres stepped in when Palmer left the group to work on his solo album, "Riptide" which was released in that same year. The album truly rocks from start to finish with its rhythmic heavy metal sound.


LIVING IN FEAR [1997]
10 years after the release of their debut album, the original band members reunited to work on their second album. However, John Taylor had to withdraw from the project due to personal issues. Bernard Edwards (former bassist of Chic) stepped in and the album "Living In Fear" was finally released in 1997. Unfortunately, Edwards died of pneumonia before the group was able to embark on a concert tour. The group decided to press on, and toured first with bassist Guy Pratt, and then Manny Yanes and second guitarist Luke Morley instead, to moderate success. The band disbanded shortly thereafter. This is the last album of Power Station as Palmer and Thompson both passed away in 2003. [Source: Wikipedia]

ROBERT PALMER, Live [2001]

Robert Palmer's soulful voice blended perfectly well with whatever style of music he recorded, be it rock, rhythm and blues, or reggae. While he had released solo albums in the 70's, it was when he joined The Power Station in the mid-80s that his career took a turn for the better. They scored two hit singles: "Some Like It Hot", and a cover of T-Rex's "Get It On (Bang A Gong)". With the newfound recognition, he released his solo album, "Riptide", in 1985. His music video for "Addicted to Love" featured beautiful women-- models clad in similar wardrobes with heavy make-up, dancing and acting as back-up musicians. It became a favorite among the MTV generation of the 80s and helped boost record sales of Riptide. Pepsi took notice of his MTV success and signed him up for a commercial in 1988 using his single "Simply Irresistible" (from the album "Heavy Nova") with the winning formula of his music videos, the sexy and beautiful models on the background.
In 2001, he released this album which contains a great selection of his known hits. Captured live in December 2000, at the legendary Apollo in New York City, the brilliant singer and songwriter dazzled his audience with his powerful voice along with his amazing band. Surely, with his demise in 2003, Mr. Palmer is terribly missed by his fans all over the globe.
